Dad’s Group: Dads get together monthly, or so, for a social night out. No children please. For more information contact John Welch
Grandparents Support Group: Join us for a meeting of grandparents to share experiences about the joys, concerns and challenges of having a grandchild with autism.
Mom’s Night Out: Moms get out together on a quarterly basis for a social evening.
Newly Diagnosed/Young Families Playgroup: This group meets monthly for kid play time and adult socializing at local playgrounds. This group is centered around families with children ages 18 months and older on the spectrum, but focuses on the needs of Newly Diagnosed families. Siblings are welcome. As part of this group, you also have access to our private Facebook Group for Young Families as well as the Chapter’s Yahoo Groups.
Parents of Adults With Autism Support Group will continue to meet again this year. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm (except July and August). Meetings are held at the Creative Living Center at 6300 Chapel Hill Road, Ste. 230 in Raleigh.
Parents of Teens and Young Adults with HFA/Asperger’s is a parent support network that shares information and resources concerning teenagers and young adults with HFA/AS who are in high school or college or have recently begun employment.
Sibling Support Group: The meetings are monthly, September through April (not December) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Elk’s Lodge (corner of Millbrook & Leadmine in North Raleigh). We serve a Pizza dinner with punch and cookies. We charge $10 to cover the cost of the facilitator and food (scholarships are available as needed). Contact: Robin Schiffmiller
